TRF Sponsors the Free Clinics at the Reno River Festival

The TRF is the proud sponsor of this years free instructional clinics at the Reno River Festival, May 9-11 in downtown Reno.

The clinics put on by Different Strokes Kayaking School (DSK) has allowed hundreds of people to experience kayaking first hand.

The clinics range from beginners to experienced.  There are several special clinics organized just for juniors and women as well as a clinic specially designed to introduce whitewater sports to people with mobility impairments.

Please come down and experience whitewater kayaking at its finest.

TRF’s Jason Craig gettin’ ready for team trials

Thursday is my first big water day. The day started out by us running initiation
which is a small channel with a big hole right in the middle. I had a perfect line. After that we went to the top of mcoys and every one had to surf phills hole. My first time I dropped in leaning forward doing a MASSIVE entry loop. When I rolled up my helmet was thirty yards down stream. After getting beat down I surfed out. Luckily Nick grabbed my helmet.
On my second ride I flushed really fast. Later in the day we went to center slot. We all had to surf the beat down line. On my first time I missed the hole. Not satified I paddled up the eddy. I surfed across the green and into the green. I started to do enders then I was in a stern stall when my bow plugged into the green. I went down and popped up down stream from the hole about twenty feet.
After that we went down stream and played at blacks. It was the perfect level and I got a mcnasty to a loop, which felt like a combo move it was so fast.
